How LASIK Surgery Works

LASIK surgery reshapes your cornea with a cool laser to refocus how light enters your eye. The treatment is a minimally-invasive, virtually painless procedure conducted on an outpatient basis in a vision center or an eye surgeon’s clinic that has a special temperature and humidity controlled operating room.  With new advanced laser technology, we can now treat myopia (near sightedness), hyperopia (far sightedness) and astigmatism.

Dr. Shah is the most experienced Lasik surgeon in the philadelphia area. He has performed over 40,000 laser vision correction procedures.  He is one of the few surgeons in the country who is fellowship trained in Lasik, Cornea and advnaced anterior segment surgeries of the the eye.  Many local suregeons often seek his opinion and help in treating complex surgeries of the eye.

Dr. Shah firmly believes in using the best technology to treat his Lasik patients.  That means never using a blade to make a flap.  He only uses a femtosecond laser to precisely cut and treat your cornea.  While slightly more expensive than a cheap blade, flaps created with a laser are much safer and optically superior than the blade flaps.
